National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) and Mathews Readymix are Working Together to Improve the Concrete Industry
Look around for a few seconds; what do you see? No matter where you’re standing, you’re bound to see concrete in some form. From floors to buildings to parking lots, this sturdy gray material is everywhere.
As one of the most versatile and durable building materials in the world, concrete comes with a built-in set of champions, most notably National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA)
The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) is a membership-based association for businesses in the readymix concrete industry. Mathews Readymix, for example, has had a long association with NRMCA. They offer a number of useful materials, such as resources for certifications and designs, as well as code advocacy, mentorship, and trainings.
How Build with Strength helps the concrete industry
NRMCA is the parent organization of Build With Strength, a coalition of architects, engineers, builders, policymakers, and emergency service providers who promote the numerous benefits of concrete as an eco-friendly construction material. NRMCA’s government affairs group works hard to make sure its members have a voice. They watch legislation closely and step in if anything needs to be changed.
Concrete and Sustainability are trending
The biggest trend in the industry right now? “Sustainability,” said Brandon Wray, the Director of Building Innovations in the Structures & Sustainability Group at NRMCA. Although it’s always been important in California, the rest of the world is catching up.
“People are starting to realize what they can do to tie back to the sustainability factor,” continued Brandon, “like resilience efforts and other wildfire devastations.” For example, Mathews Readymix has been invaluable in helping the town of Paradise rebuild.
“Through NRMCA and Build With Strength, said Brandon, “more branches of manufacturers are learning to work together – such as concrete providers and architects – to achieve a bigger picture. They are learning to come together and provide solutions in an effective way.”
Start a Career in Concrete
Your future could very well include a job in the concrete industry, and NRMCA is here to help. They’re big on workforce development, and are always looking for ways to help young professionals grow.
Brandon’s proud that NRMCA supplies the information and tools necessary to help workers gain the skills they need to become future managers or drivers.
