Your Step-by-Step Guide: How to Order Concrete

Is it finally time to order concrete for your patio, planter, or other DIY project? Well, as they say in the industry….Ready, set, cure!

Concrete puns aside, at Mathews Readymix, we’re always happy to help our clients get from start to finish. But before you pick up the phone, let’s make sure you’re on the right path. Follow the steps below for a “choose your own adventure” to order the right amount of concrete for your project.

Is it a DIY project?

✔️If you’ve answered yes:

→ Use our concrete calculator to determine how much concrete you’ll need. This handy tool calculates an approximate amount for the three most common concrete shapes for DIY projects, giving you an idea of what you’ll need to order.

→ Take a look at some of our helpful concrete products, like stabilizers, curing agents, and jointing solutions, all of which can be included in your order.

→ Call Mathews Readymix with your calculations, and our friendly dispatch team will assist you in getting one of our famous blue stripe trucks moving in your direction.

X If you’ve answered no:

→ Let your contractor know you want to use Mathews Readymix, and have them give us a call. We’ll work together to handle all the details.

Whether you’ve answered yes or no:

Check the weather forecast. It’s important to have the right temperatures and conditions before pouring concrete.

Get your space ready. Clear your site of any big furniture or big piles of vegetation. For example, if you’re pouring a patio, make sure the area is clear of debris, lawn furniture, or other things that could get in the way of a smooth pour. If applicable, ensure the ground is level.

Prepare for delivery. Make room for the truck by moving cars and any items from the driveway. In most cases, the truck will be backing in, so if you have a gate, open it. And make sure to give the truck ample clearance by trimming any low-hanging tree branches over the driveway or access area.

Do a safety check. Is the area free of hazards? If you’re working on the job, are you wearing protective clothing? Are pets secured in the house? Make sure you have a safe space for everyone!

At Mathews Readymix, we’re committed to providing our customers with the highest quality concrete and best service in the area. Our custom mixes can be designed to meet the needs of any application, no matter the job size. Contact us to get started!
